- Mustard Oil Lamp (Diya)
- Black Sesame Seeds
- Black Urad Dal
- Flowers (Red or Blue)
- Sindoor (Vermilion)
- Coconut & Sweets (Jalebi)
- Incense & Camphor
- Food for Dogs (Milk/Bread)
Step-by-Step Procedure
Preparation & Sankalpa
Bathe and wear clean clothes. Light a mustard oil lamp in front of the deity. Take a vow for protection and removal of obstacles.
Invocation & Offerings
Invoke Lord Ganesha and then Kal Bhairav. Offer water, Sindoor, and flowers. Offer black sesame seeds and urad dal, which are significant for Bhairav worship.
Naivedya (Food Offering)
Offer coconut and sweets. Jalebi or Imarti are considered favorites of Lord Bhairav.
Mantra Chanting
Chant the Kal Bhairav Mantra 108 times. Meditate on his form as the protector of Kashi and the remover of fear.
Seva (Service)
After the puja, feed stray dogs with milk or bread, as the dog is the divine vehicle (vahana) of Lord Kal Bhairav.
