Worship of Goddess Varalakshmi for health, wealth, and prosperity
Materials Required
- Idol/Picture of Goddess Varalakshmi
- Kalash (Silver/Copper)
- Coconut & Mango Leaves
- Flowers (Lotus, Jasmine)
- Turmeric & Kumkum
- Betel Leaves & Nuts
- Fruits & Sweets (Pongal, Payasam)
- Yellow Thread (Saradu/Dorak)
- Rice (Akshat)
- Lamp & Incense
Step-by-Step Procedure
Preparation (Kalash Sthapana)
Clean the puja area. Fill the Kalash with rice/water, coins, and betel nut. Place mango leaves and a coconut smeared with turmeric on top.
Invocation (Avahana)
Place the Kalash on a bed of rice. Invoke Goddess Varalakshmi into the Kalash. Decorate with a face of the Goddess if available.
Ganapati & Varalakshmi Puja
Worship Lord Ganesha first. Then offer flowers, turmeric, kumkum, and akshat to the Goddess while chanting her names (Ashtottara).
Thread Worship (Saradu Puja)
Worship the sacred yellow thread (Saradu) with nine knots. Place it near the Goddess.
Offerings & Tying Thread
Offer Naivedyam (Pongal, Payasam). Tie the sacred thread on the right wrist seeking blessings.
Aarti & Tambulam
Perform Aarti. Offer Tambulam (betel leaves, nuts, coconut, fruits) to married women (Sumangalis).
