Celebrating the appearance day of Goddess Laxmi on Phalguna Purnima
Materials Required
- Idol or Picture of Goddess Laxmi
- Lotus or Rose Flowers
- Kheer (Rice Pudding) for Bhog
- Ghee Lamp (Diya) & Incense
- Turmeric & Kumkum
- Kalash with Water
- Conch Shell (Shankh)
- Fruits & Sweets
- Gangajal
Step-by-Step Procedure
Purification
Take a bath and wear clean clothes. Clean the puja altar and sprinkle Gangajal to purify the surroundings.
Invocation
Light the lamp and incense. Invoke Lord Ganesha first, then Goddess Laxmi, requesting her presence.
Abhishekam
If you have an idol, bathe it with Panchamrit and water. If using a picture, offer flowers symbolically.
Offerings
Offer turmeric, kumkum, and fresh flowers (especially Lotus). Offer Kheer as Naivedyam.
Chanting
Recite the Sri Suktam or Laxmi Ashtottara Shatanamavali with devotion.
Aarti
Perform the Laxmi Aarti. Blow the conch shell (Shankh) as it is auspicious for Goddess Laxmi.
Laxmi Gayatri Mantra
"Om Mahalakshmyai Cha Vidmahe Vishnu Patnyai Cha Dhimahi
Tanno Lakshmi Prachodayat"
Meaning: We meditate on Goddess Mahalakshmi, the consort of Lord Vishnu. May Goddess Lakshmi inspire and illumine our intellect.
