Chola Samarpana Pooja
Offering the sacred vermilion paste to Lord Hanuman
Materials Required
- Idol of Lord Hanuman
- Sindoor (Vermilion)
- Jasmine Oil (Chameli Tel)
- Ghee
- Silver or Gold foil (Vark) - optional
- Red cloth for the idol (Vastra)
- Ghee Lamp & Incense
- Sweets (Ladoo/Gud-Chana)
- Flowers
Step-by-Step Procedure
Purification
Clean the idol of Lord Hanuman with Gangajal and wipe it dry. Clean the pooja area.
Prepare the Chola
In a small bowl, mix Sindoor with Jasmine oil and a little ghee to form a smooth, consistent paste.
Invocation
Light the lamp. Pray to Lord Rama and Sita, then invoke Hanuman Ji, requesting him to accept the offering.
Application (Samarpana)
With reverence, gently apply the prepared Chola paste over the entire body of the Hanuman idol. Chant "Om Hanumate Namah" while doing so.
Decoration & Aarti
After applying the Chola, you can decorate with Vark (foil). Offer a new red cloth. Offer flowers, sweets, and perform the Hanuman Aarti.

Meaning: I bow to the son of the Wind God, the beloved devotee of Lord Rama, who is the abode of incomparable strength, with a body like a golden mountain, a fire to the forest of demons, the foremost among the wise, the repository of all virtues, and the chief of the Vanaras.
